God will not give you
more than you can handle, so where is this in the bible? What does it mean? Because my closest friend said this to me the
other day and it is not right. People
often misquote this verse:
1 Corinthians 10:13
The temptations in
your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He
will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are
tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
It is directed towards temptation not suffering. More so Jesus said on the eve of his execution, "My
soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with
me." (Matthew 26:38). His execution was more than he could bear.
It is
written: Deuteronomy 31:6 New International Version
(NIV), “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or
terrified because of them, for the Lord
your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
God may allow more than you can handle but stand strong for if you cry unto him He will be there with
you. He will be beside you all the way
and at the end when we endure under testing and trails we will receive the
crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12.
So next time a person is going through hell, say to them to call
out to the creator our God who will never leave you or forsake you. Tell them He knows your pain and it hurts Him
too and (I hope you would say this and do it) I as a friend will stay by your
side and keep praying.
